General Course Information: |
student grading The grade you receive in this course will be based on the number of points you earn on each assignment. I have ascribed each assignment varying number of points based on how difficult the assignment is and how important I think it is. Assignments worth many points are probably longer and more important (in my opinion) than assignments worth fewer points. assignment rubrics For each assignment that you complete, I have developed a rubric that explicitly lists what I expect from you for the assignment. The rubric also shows how I will distribute points for each part of the assignment. I strongly recommend that you refer to each assignment's rubric as your complete the assignment. click here to access the assignment rubrics page student grade tracking sheets I have also created student grade tracking sheets. I will print and maintain one for each of you. These sheets will list each assignment and the points you earned for that assignment. I recommend that you print a copy of the student grade tracking sheet for yourself and maintain it separately from mine. Maintaining a separate sheet will help ensure that you and I agree as to what points you have and have not earned. I will check in with you periodically through our time together to ensure that what you think you have earned matches with what I think you have earned. You may download a copy of the student grade tracking sheet by clicking here. late work Please be advised that I will not accept late assignments for any reason. Because we will complete so much work in such a relatively short period, I must keep myself well-paced and this prevents me from accepting late assignments. extra credit Throughout the course, I will offer bits of extra credit. You will be responsible for writing down (on your student grade tracking sheet) the number of points you earned next to a description of why you earned the points. Please also ask me to initial next to each entry as you earn the points. This will help ensure that I do not forget to track the points and that you and I agree as to how many extra credit points you have earned throughout the course.
